November 2022 saw the release of ChatGPT, the revolutionary artificial intelligence chatbot, and since its launch, it has captivated the public. ChatGPT went viral on social media platforms as users asked it to build Chrome extensions, pass US medical exams and even write essays.
As the world watched in awe, questions arose about how AI can help revolutionize other industries, such as the food industry. In my role as a food correspondent, I wanted to better understand what ChatGPT can do in the kitchen. To test its potential I asked ChatGPT to create an easy, yet upscale, pasta recipe and I was surprised by the delicious results.
The Shrimp-based dish ChatGPT created was surprisingly flavourful and easy to make. The ingredients were not difficult to work with and many of them were already in my pantry. The recipe also featured a unique twist, combining garlic and olive oil with shaved Parmesan cheese. I would highly recommend it as a simple, yet delicious meal that is sure to impress.
ChatGPT’s invention proves that AI places a vital role in the food industry. Not only can it help with recipe suggestions, but it can provide those in the culinary world with unprecedented tools to help them innovate in their field. As a technology journalist, I think it is incredible to witness the potential of artificial intelligence in everyday life. ChatGPT has granted us some interesting insights into the role AI may play in our lives in the future.
