AI Cloud Services Startup DarkByte Partners with HPE to Offer Renewable-Powered AI Cloud
DarkByte, an AI cloud services startup, has announced a collaboration with IT giant Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to provide customers with access to an on-demand AI cloud service that runs on renewable energy sources. This partnership aims to set new industry standards for environmental sustainability.
We are proud to bring energy efficiency to the data center industry and implement advanced heat capture solutions to drive large-scale agriculture, while also promoting community development, said Akbar Shamji, CEO of DarkByte.
The service will primarily target government agencies and organizations responsible for critical initiatives in energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services. As the demand for AI workloads increases, organizations face the challenge of finding a balance between sustainability and AI innovation.
Leading research and advisory company Gartner emphasizes the need to assess the environmental consequences of energy consumption resulting from AI-related hardware, model training, and inference, while also acknowledging the benefits and advancements offered by AI.
In a report by data storage vendor Pure Storage, it is emphasized that reevaluating data infrastructure is essential to fully benefit from AI, control energy costs, and stay on track with corporate environmental objectives.
Justin Hotard, executive VP and general manager of HPC, AI & Labs at HPE, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: DarkByte shares our vision of providing powerful, accessible AI solutions while minimizing environmental impact. We look forward to collaborating and offering our industry-leading supercomputing and machine learning software as a cloud service.
DarkByte plans to leverage HPE Cray XD supercomputers, equipped with NVIDIA H100, specifically designed to support compute-intensive workloads such as AI, machine learning, and modeling and simulation workloads.
Key features of DarkByte’s AI cloud service will include:
– Use of renewable energy sources, including solar power, batteries, hydroelectricity, and nanotechnology.
– Accessibility to government agencies and organizations driving critical missions.
– Energy-efficient solutions for data centers.
– Advanced heat capture solutions for large-scale agriculture.
– Enhanced community development through sustainable practices.
– HPE Cray XD supercomputers with NVIDIA H100 for compute-intensive workloads.
Notably, HPE has been working towards democratizing access to AI infrastructure by offering the building blocks of a supercomputer designed for AI training to organizations that may not have the means to invest in traditional infrastructure.
DarkByte’s collaboration with HPE to provide renewable-powered AI cloud services exemplifies their commitment to delivering powerful AI solutions while prioritizing environmental sustainability. Their joint efforts will drive innovation in both AI accessibility and sustainable practices within the industry.
