Da Nang Establishes Semiconductor & AI Center to Drive Innovation

Date:

Da Nang to Establish Semiconductor and AI Research Center

The Da Nang People’s Committee has announced the establishment of the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training. With Le Hoang Phuc as its director, the center is expected to be located in the software park area of Hai Chau District. The project is currently undergoing legal procedures.

The main objective of the center is to train personnel and attract investment in order to promote research and startup businesses in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence. By 2024-2025, the center aims to complete all necessary legal frameworks, as well as develop policies and mechanisms for industry growth and international cooperation.

According to Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, the center will collaborate with the city to implement semiconductor development projects in the area. The goal is for the center to serve as a point of contact for cooperation opportunities in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence between Da Nang and its partners.

Vietnam has larger plans in the semiconductor industry, with three research centers for semiconductors in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City set to be operational by 2025. The country aims to have around 50,000 chip engineers, 200,000 semiconductor engineers, and 500,000 workers in the semiconductor industry by 2030.

This move by Da Nang to establish a dedicated center for semiconductor and AI research and training reflects Vietnam’s growing interest and investment in these technological fields. By fostering a favorable environment for research, attracting investment, and providing necessary training, Da Nang aims to position itself as a hub for semiconductor and AI innovation.

The establishment of such a center will not only contribute to the development of high-tech industries in Da Nang but also strengthen Vietnam’s position in the global technology landscape. As more countries focus on advancing their capabilities in semiconductors and AI, this initiative will help Vietnam stay competitive and foster economic growth through technological advancement.

With an increasing number of industries relying on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, the establishment of the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training is a strategic move that aligns with the global technological trends. As the center takes shape and begins operations, it is expected to play a crucial role in driving innovation, attracting talent and investment, and positioning Da Nang as a pioneering city in the fields of semiconductors and AI.

Vietnam’s push to develop its semiconductor industry, combined with the establishment of research centers like the one in Da Nang, sets the stage for the country to become a key player in the global tech landscape. As Vietnam continues to invest in research, training, and infrastructure, it is positioning itself to be at the forefront of technological innovation, offering new opportunities for economic growth and development in the years to come.
