At Microsoft Build 2023, corporate VP Yusuf Mehdi announced the integration of Bing into OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT. This new connection allows ChatGPT to search the web powered by Bing, which provides its users with timely and accurate answers. With this plugin, ChatGPT Plus subscribers have access to real-time web information stored within the chat, as well as citations and sources. Due to its natural language processing, ChatGPT can understand and access information relevant to web searches.
Mehdi also commented on the alignment of ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot, as well as Windows Copilot – an upgrade to Windows 11 that enables AI capabilities. These platforms now have the native functionality to use Bing chat and all interoperable plugins.
To make the most of this new function, ChatGPT Plus subscribers have immediate access to Bing-powered responses, which are already available. For those who don’t have a subscription, they can take advantage of this connection as a plugin.
