Conor Grogan, the Head of Business Operations at the well-known digital currency platform Coinbase, revealed a screenshot of the prediction made by ChatGPT on his Twitter account on April 30. ChatGPT offered forecasted odds on the probable future of some cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Dogecoin (DOGE).
In the screenshot, ChatGPT proposed a 15 percent likelihood that BTC’s value will drop down by over 99.99% by 2035, resulting in it becoming irrelevant. There was also a 20 percent chance of the same happening to Ethereum. Surprising as it may be, the AI model showed even more skepticism to Litecoin and Dogecoin – predicting a 35 and 45 percent chance that their values will be near zero by 2035.
To prove the accuracy of ChatGPT’s predictions, Grogan revealed that he had tested the prompts approximately one hundred times. He also shared the prompting script that he used to acquire the probability tables. This is not the first time Grogan has shown the capability of ChatGPT, he had on March 15th revealed that the latest version of ChatGPT – GPT-4 – can detect flaws in Ethereum smart contracts and even provide guidelines on exploiting the faulty contracts.
Grogan’s demonstration of ChatGPT’s features has appealed to people’s curiosity towards the AI tool’s accuracy in providing probability opinions on a wide array of cryptocurrency and political situations. Though, it is yet to be seen how accurate the predictions will become in the long run, this advancement has astounded the possibility of AI playing a noteworthy role in studying and forecasting pattern in the crypto market and beyond.
