Culmination of an arduous four-day programme has led to the winner of the annual BT Young Scientist Business Bootcamp being revealed. A partnership between BT Young Scientists and Technologists and NovaUCD has enabled to provide a comprehensive understanding of the commercial dynamics needed for pushing forward with innovation into future careers. A project that stood out amongst the 30 students taking part in the bootcamp was the NutriSoil project.
The NutriSoil project, lead by 5th year student Sean Allen from Roscommon Community College, examines the lasting effects of a more ecology-friendly way of maintaining nutrient saturation in the ground. This serves as an alternative to artificial grains and was a project submitted to the 2023 BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in January.
Accompanying project lead Sean Allen was Rosheen Sharma, 3rd year student from Rockford Manor, Julian Lewandowski, 4th year student from Sutton Park School, Erica O’Brien Murray, 5th year student from Loreto Secondary School, and Alanna Hayes, 5th year student from Social Mhuire, Clare. These students’ hard work and dedication to the project was recognized with a winning title.
Tara Mulhall, a 5th year student from Newbridge College, was awarded ‘Best Individual’ of the Bootcamp and received accolades for her efforts.
The Bootcamp hosts a deep-dived perspective into developing ideas from concept to market with an interpersonal skills mix of teamwork and decision making. Praiseful recognition goes to the six projects chosen from this year’s Exhibition for the awarded initiative.
