Chinese Researchers Develop Breakthrough AI Technology for Accurate Animal Social Behavior Detection
A Chinese research team at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences has made significant strides in the field of animal social behavior detection through the development of a revolutionary artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The team has successfully overcome the challenge of accurately detecting animal social behavior, particularly in cases where animals closely resemble one another.
The newly developed technology, called Social Behavior Atlas (SBeA), boasts an impressive accuracy rate of over 90% in identifying animals that bear a striking resemblance to each other. Wei Pengfei, correspondence author of the study, explained that SBeA is specifically designed for calculating 3D social posture, identity, and fine social modules in mice, birds, and domestic dogs, with potential for cross-species applications.
