China’s Minister of Education, Huai Jinpeng, highlighted the importance of global cooperation for educational advancement at the 24th China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education (CACIE) held in Beijing. The event brought together educators, scholars, and representatives from various universities and institutions to discuss the current state and future development of global education.
In his opening speech, Minister Huai emphasized the irreplaceable value of education in transmitting culture, knowledge, and shaping a better future. He highlighted China’s commitment to upholding its rich educational traditions and prioritizing education in its development strategy, which has contributed to the country’s increasing international influence.
Minister Huai stressed the significance of win-win cooperation, stating that it is the best approach to achieve success in major initiatives that benefit all. He emphasized the need for international cooperation in education, particularly in the face of unprecedented global changes and societal transformations. Huai proposed strengthening education to drive comprehensive human development through enhanced policy communication and resource sharing.
The Minister also highlighted education’s role as a key driver of economic and social progress. He emphasized the importance of innovation and adaptability to technological advancements, with a particular focus on talent development and scientific breakthroughs for high-quality development. Furthermore, he called for education to serve as a guiding force for global prosperity through cultural exchanges, international understanding, and cross-cultural communication, ultimately aiming to advance human civilization and create a shared community for mankind.
The conference also featured speeches from prominent figures such as Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili, Chairperson of the Executive Board of UNESCO, who emphasized the need to maintain a delicate balance between the advantages of artificial intelligence (AI) and the preservation of the human dimension in education. Jahou S. Faal, the Secretary General of the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa, praised the educational cooperation between China and Africa, highlighting the shared recognition of the importance of promoting vocational education and fostering partnerships.
The China Annual Conference & Expo for International Education was organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange and encompassed various multilateral events, including plenary sessions, parallel forums, collaborative discussions, and an educational exhibition. The event attracted over 4,500 participants, including education professionals, embassy officials, and corporate representatives from more than 60 countries and regions.
