Chegg, Inc. (NYSE: CHGG), a leading student-first connected learning platform, has announced its new AI service, CheggMate, employing the OpenAI’s advanced model, GPT-4. Developed with Chegg’s personalized learning tools and libraries of data, CheggMate is a conversational AI companion aimed at helping students understand their academic course material more effectively and efficiently.
Through a simple query in the form of text, photo, math problem, or diagram, CheggMate can effectively provide students with personalized learning pathways, quizzes, tests for knowledge checks and a drill-down into concepts which are hard to understand. CheggMate serves as a real-time guide, giving them context and allowing them to pick up exactly where they left off. It is designed to seamlessly integrate existing Chegg tools and make them much easier to access and understand.
According to a survey, 77% of Chegg customers are excited by the prospect of an AI-based platform, with 85% of students preferring an AI that is supported by human intelligence. CheggMate will be capable of delivering exactly that, as it will leverage Chegg’s comprehensive content library. It is believed to be the first of its kind, worldwide, in terms of effectively combining the robust AI engine of GPT-4 and Chegg’s student-oriented learning platform.
Nina Huntemann, Ph.D, Chief Academic Officer of Chegg Inc., commented on the new addition, “AI provides an incredible opportunity for students to be aided by a digital companion that supports and enhances their learning and helps to prepare them for the future. Chegg understands learners more than anyone else and CheggMate combines AI and our learning tools to offer a tailored learning experience to every student.”
To further test the product, look forward to its limited early access becoming available to students as early as May 2023.
