The AI narrowed down the list to six athletes that are widely considered as the sports GOAT: Michael Jordan in basketball, Serena Williams in tennis, Usain Bolt in athletics, Pele or Lionel Messi in football, and Michael Phelps in swimming. While James was listed among seven candidates for the NBA GOAT, only Jordan was named among the greatest athletes across all sports, making it difficult for James’ supporters to argue their case. ChatGPT’s responses were based on publicly available data and conversations on the internet, although the exact source is unknown. Interestingly, ChatGPT’s response aligns with a 2019 Insider poll, in which most people chose Jordan as the GOAT of the NBA.
