ChatGPT: Writing Wedding Vows for Couples, Proving Romance is Alive and Well

Date:

ChatGPT, a chatbot AI that has recently taken the world by storm, is providing couples with a modern twist on an old tradition. Since it was released in November, many romantic hopefuls have been using the AI to help them write their wedding vows, religious contracts, speeches and even wedding websites. Whether it is a simple joke or an emotionally charged speech, the AI effortlessly creates content based on user prompts and has been able to help add luster to the heartfelt moments of many couples before their big day.

Elyse Nguyen, a financial analyst at Qualcomm, was struggling to write her wedding vows when a friend suggested she try out the ChatGPT chatbot for help. After providing prompt words and inserting some personal touches, Elyse found a lot of meaning behind the chatbot’s words. The AI used alliteration, analogies and metaphors to make her vows sound real and crafted humorous quips that her husband loved.

EllenLe also used ChatGPT to create an ‘about us’ page for her wedding website. Leveraging the Writer’s Block Assistant tool from online wedding planning service Joy, Ellen was able to create a detailed description about her and her fiance’s journey.

Vishal Joshi, the co-founder and CEO of Joy, said that ChatGPT has helped relieved the stress of couples trying to write their wedding vows, which is something that usually takes hours. This integrated service can generate stories that contain details and personal references, taking the work off the couple’s hands.

Although ChatGPT provides help to wedding hopefuls, it has been greeted with skepticism due to the possibility of its perpetuating bias, spreading misinformation, and upending certain livelihoods. This brings raises questions about whether people are risking something by injecting technology into an important and sacred moment in life.

Michael Grinn, an anesthesiologist, and his fiance Kate Gardiner took a shot at using the ChatGPT to create a traditional Ketubah–a Jewish marriage contract. Though they made some language changes to fit their needs, the AI still managed to produce something they were both happy with.

Despite his success in editing the contract, he still plans to write his own vows. He is using AI only to help officiate his best friend’s wedding as it helps save time due to his hectic schedule.

ChatGPT has become increasingly popular among couples. Its ability to generate compelling and meaningful emotional content helps users save time in creating memorable wedding moments. However, it is important for these couples to remember it is not a replacement for the meaningful words that come from people’s hearts and should not be used to take away from the beauty and meaning of a wedding day.
