ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, has made claims that it can crack one of the most mysterious puzzles in the crypto world; the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. ChatGPT’s forecasts are backed by statistics, which have given us a list of likely Satoshi Nakamoto candidates along with the statistical probability of each selection. The list leads with Nick Szabo at 30%, followed by Hal Finney and Craig Wright with 20% and 10% probabilities respectively. Additionally, there is a 30% chance that the creator is actually a group of people.
Nick Szabo, the leading candidate according to ChatGPT, is considered a credible choice due to his background as a cryptography and computer researcher. However, other potential candidates, such as Elon Musk and Steve Jobs, have been suggested in the past but the AI found no direct evidence. Yet, the fact that the name Satoshi Nakamoto refers to a Japanese connotation hints at an Asian origin (40% probability).
Even though the chatbot could perhaps better guess the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the mystery still remains unsolved. It is especially complicated due to the complexity of the code, leading some to believe that a group of computer scientists are behind the pseudonym. On the other hand, the article that was published in 2008 uses the pronoun “I” multiple times, and considering the singular name, no collective association has been made. Ultimately, ChatGPT believes that there is a 60% chance that only one person controls the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto.
This article made us think about ChatGPT, a software using AI to try and solve difficult puzzles beyond what the human eye can’t identify. This AI software offers a good starting point for decrypting some of the world’s greatest mysteries, including the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. Even with assistance from ChatGPT, the puzzle of who’s behind Bitcoin continues to puzzle us, but still it offers useful insights on the origin of its creator.
