Boston Dynamics is a well-known engineering and robotics company, most famous for the viral videos of its impressive robots doing parkour and other incredible tasks. Recently, AI expert Santiago Valdarrama released a new video featuring a Boston Dynamics robot dog, named Spot, performing various tasks utilizing artificial intelligence.
In the two-minute video, Spot is seen answering various questions in natural language such as “Are you standing?” and “What is your battery level?”. To do this, Spot makes use of an OpenAI’s ChatGPT tool to query the data and then Google’s text-to-speech AI to interact with the user. At the Levatas lab, the robot is not only capable of carrying up to 14 kg of equipment and repeating missions, but also of conducting thermal inspections, detecting radiation and performing a variety of tasks.
Santiago Valdarrama shared his feelings on the public’s creative worries about the robot and AI capabilities by saying that “90% of the comments were people talking about the end of civilization. Meanwhile, 99% of data scientists are still figuring out how to split their tabular datasets.”
Santiago Valdarrama is an AI expert at Levatas and was the one behind the video that showcased the impressive capabilities of Spot, the robot dog by Boston Dynamics. Not only is Santiago a famous tech figure due to his experience in AI technology but also for his numerous conferences featuring big notable guests.
