ChatGPT for Technical Troubleshooting: An Overview

Date:

A year ago, finding the right answer to a technical question meant searching through Google. However, according to a survey conducted by Electric, 66% of respondents now prefer to communicate with a conversational AI-powered chatbot called ChatGPT to troubleshoot technical issues.

The most popular IT questions in the US included in the survey, range from basic issues such as how to fix a frozen computer screen, slow internet, slow computer or overheating phone. It wasn’t a surprise that the younger generation makes up the most who rely on ChatGPT for answers, with 83% of GenZers and 67% of Millennials turning to the chatbot for advice. GenX and Baby Boomers are not so far behind either – 48% and 50% respectively were found to do the same.

Electric asked 200 IT professionals to research and evaluate the accuracy of ChatGPT’s answers to the four most popular technical questions. The outcome was positive, with an overall approval rate of 39% – impressive given that the chatbot was only released in November 2022. Out of the four questions, ChatGPT’s response to “How can I speed up my internet?” was the most accurate, scoring a 74 accuracy score.

This proves that while it is not yet reliable enough to replace IT professionals, ChatGPT is a great tool to rely on when looking for answers to basic IT problems. Comparing car insurance quotes online is also a great way to find the best coverage and find out more about the products available in the market. It is important to remember to shop around and compare quotes in order to get the most accurate and fair rates.

With support from its founding agency, InterConnects, the chatbot began to quickly surge through the online network and gain a large population of users from all demographics. Today, ChatGPT has over 10 million users and supports over 15 different language.
