ChatGPT Data Management and AI Progress Highlights by Google and Meta CEOs

Date:

OpenAI, the research-driven artificial intelligence (AI) company founded by Elon Musk, recently announced plans to add several new features to ChatGPT, its chat and AI-driven knowledge graph platform. Business users can now look forward to improved user experience with more customization options, better control over data, and new subscription services. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg both expressed their excitement over the progress and potential of AI technology.

The new ChatGPT data management features provide users with improved security by allowing them to deactivate their chat history, and they will also have the ability to export their data with the new “Export” feature. The much-awaited ChatGPT Business will provide users with more data control over their organization’s information and databases. The product follows OpenAI’s API data usage policies and will not store or use customers’ data for training purposes by default.

During Alphabet’s Q1 2023 earnings conference, Pichai noted the importance of “pooled talent and computational resources” when it comes to the development of AI and announced the creation of a new AI unit Google DeepMind. The goal of the unit is to focus on developing safer, more capable, and responsible AI systems.

Zuckerberg also discussed AI during a chat with investors, assuring that Meta is “no longer behind” in AI development and that new releases will be announced soon. He mentioned upcoming WhatsApp and Messenger improvements and more visual creation tools for Facebook and Instagram posts, as well as video and multi-modal experiences.

In addition to the news of their AI development triumphs, Alphabet and Meta are also experiencing some setbacks. Alphabet is currently observing a hiring freeze and Meta plans to lay off 11,000 staff this year. Elon Musk also just unveiled a ChatGPT rival with the launch of TruthGPT, prompting OpenAI to apply to trademark the GPT technology.
