OpenAI, a Silicon Valley-based research laboratory, has launched the official ChatGPT app for iPhone users in the United States and 30 other countries, including India. This app utilizes OpenAI’s Whisper, an open-source speech recognition system, enabling voice input. With this app, users get answers to their queries at a much faster rate compared to text-based inputs.
ChatGPT Plus subscribers are also provided with exclusive access to GPT-4’s capabilities, early access to features and quicker responses. With the help of the ChatGPT app, users have the ability to seek guidance on cooking, travel plans, or even craft thoughtful messages. It also helps generate gift ideas, outlines presentations, or write the perfect poem. With its integration on the iPhone, users are also able to explore new languages, modern history, and more.
As per an analysis by app intelligence provider data.ai, the ChatGPT app has surpassed half a million downloads within six days of its launch. The data also showcases that it is the highest-performing new app release this year. To access the app, users need to log in or create a new account using Google, Microsoft, or Apple accounts, and enter a phone number for an OTP-verification.
OpenAI is a research lab founded by tech mogul Elon Musk and renowned scientists; it works towards advancing digital intelligence in the form of the machine learning. ChatGPT is a natural language processing platform developed by OpenAI to automate data and conversational tasks. The app, however, is only available for iOS users and the team has promised to launch an Android app soon.
