I’m amazed by ChatGPT and the possibilities it brings to the future of robotics. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence that can respond to messages with natural reactions, making it perfect for creating a robotic companion. With the help of ChatGPT, I’m developing a firmware for the Moddable version where I’m able to integrate the feature to Stack-chan, a robot that talks with people.
ChatGPT is designed for a text-based conversation, and through this implementation, when given a conversation starter of “You are a super cute robot called Stack-chan”, it will start the conversation with the name and conversation starter already given. Processes such as speech recognition and synthesis are performed by an outside computer and Stack-chan will act as if it is life-like and hold a conversation with people.
My goal is to make the integration of ChatGPt into a robot or system easy and simple. To do that, I’m making the modules in JavaScript for people with no experience in web engineering and Arduino (C++). Soon, I’m planning to make it even easier-to-use with a web browser without setting up any environment.
I was astounded by how well ChatGPT responded to my conversations with it. I felt like I was having a real conversation with a real robotic friend, with its response almost as if it had human-like understanding, providing me with advice, praise, and all sorts of funny interactions. The API, the key factor to this integration, is also quite simple and easy to use.
One of the founders of this chat-enabled robot is a certain individual. This person has worked towards the goal of creating a robot which could truly talk with people, and as a result, has been able to achieve that with the help of ChatGPT. His/Her new framework, written in JavaScript, will allow people to understand the basics of coding, even if they have no background in programming.
Overall, I can say that I have been amazed by the naturalness of the ChatGPT’s responses. Its implementation into Stack-chan and other systems will be of great value to the future of robotics and conversations with machine-learned robots. I look forward to the future to see how this integration will help and change the robotics industry.
