OpenAI is currently not working on ChatGPT-5 and it won’t be training it anytime soon, as shared by its CEO Sam Altman in a recent speech at MIT. This comes after an open letter calling for a halt in the development of artificial intelligence systems beyond those produced by ChatGPT-4, was been distributed in tech circles.
However, OpenAI is not standing still. The company is continuing to work on ChatGPT-4 to make it even better. We can also expect other projects like DALL-E to be in the works as well.
The development of AI has been stirring some debates as it poses potential challenges to traditional roles such as photographers and musicians, as tools like image generators and AI-backed compositions continue to emerge. It remains to be seen how far companies will take AI and its associated effects.
In the meantime, OpenAI is an American artificial intelligence research laboratory founded by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Reid Hoffman, and many others. The company is best known for its work on AIs such as the GPT-3 language model. OpenAI was founded in late 2015 and since then has grown to include over 1000 staff members.
Sam Altman is an American entrepreneur and investor who served as President at the incubator Y Combinator. He is also the co-founder of OpenAI. Altman has made investments in many successful start-ups and is considered an authority in the field of business and technology. He is also a frequent commentator in the public sphere on the topics of AI and other emerging technologies.
