Carbon Health Launches GPT-4-Powered Medical Charting Tool

Date:

Carbon Health Technologies Inc. has launched an AI-powered software tool that uses OpenAI LP’s GPT-4 model to help physicians create medical charts faster. Currently, doctors spend around 16 minutes writing medical notes manually, leaving less time for patient visits. However, Carbon Health’s new AI tool promises to cut that time down to less than four minutes. The AI tool is built into Carbon Health’s internally-developed software platform, Cloud EHR, and captures and transcribes audio using Amazon Web Services Inc.’s AWS Transcribe Medical service. Additionally, the tool’s machine learning algorithms combine the transcript with other patient information such as lab results to create charts that are 2.5 times more detailed than records produced using manual approaches. Carbon Health has already piloted the technology at one of its clinics in San Francisco and managed to achieve a 30% increase in patient visit volume after adopting the AI tool.
