OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT 3, is investing in robotics and AI tech development. They recently invested $23.5 million in 1X, a Norway-based robotics company to develop humanoid robots. This robot, nicknamed EVE, is an AI-powered robot that is capable of carrying out repetitive tasks such as picking up objects and packing and unpacking boxes.

In order to control the robot, a robot operator uses virtual reality while observing the robot through its camera “eyes”. EVE is being used as a glimpse into the future of repetitive human labor tasks. Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s COO, stated that OpenAI believes in the approach and impact that 1X can have on work of the future.

OpenAI is renowned for its pioneering development of ChatGPT 3 which is a natural language chatbot powered by artificial intelligence. This advancement was considered an immense step forward for AI learning and creativity.

The CEO of 1X, Eirik Vellesen, is a long term strategist in the technology and robotics industry. He believes in the importance of using advanced tech to make labor more efficient and effective. He believes that 1X is perfect for this as they are leveraging robotics and AI to augment labor.

To sum up, OpenAI has made a huge investment in the robotics and AI tech industry with their investment in 1X. This effort is showing success as they have already developed EVE, an AI-powered robot. Other advancements such as ChatGPT 3 and GPT-4 provides evidence that OpenAI is committed to AI and robotics development that can potentially shape the work of the future.
