At the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, experts from GlobalData analyzed the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G technology, marking a significant milestone in the tech industry.
David George, the director of services for GlobalData’s Thematic Research team, highlighted the maturity of technologies like AI and 5G at this year’s event. He noted a sense of familiarity surrounding these technologies, as they have been discussed for several years but are now finally becoming mainstream.
During the conference, Accenture CEO Julie Sweet acknowledged that while these technologies are not new, vendors often faced challenges with premature releases and inflated expectations. However, AI was prominently featured at the event, serving as a key facilitator for delivering complex solutions and enhancing data interpretation across various platforms.
George also discussed the gradual rollout of 5G networks, emphasizing the shift towards automation and real-world deployments. He pointed out the critical role of 5G standalone networks in providing lower latencies for advanced processes and applications, which were previously hindered by 4G capabilities.
The industry’s acknowledgment of the gradual evolution of these technologies reflects a more realistic approach to their adoption and deployment. As 5G networks come of age, companies are now better positioned to leverage the full potential of automation and innovation in the ever-changing tech landscape.
