New York-based Blackbird AI has raised $20m in a Series B funding round led by Ten Eleven Ventures, with contributions from Dorilton Capital, Generation Ventures, StartFast Ventures and Trousdale Ventures, as well as angel investors. The risk intelligence firm, which uses algorithmic modelling to counter cyber information attacks, began building bespoke tools after the US Department of Defense used its algorithm to fight online propaganda. More recently, Blackbird shifted focus towards providing businesses with insights into competitors and key industry players. As yet, the company has not disclosed how many customers it has, although Blackbird CEO Wasim Khaled noted that the rise of disinformation has been good for his business.
