Billionaire Ken Griffin Predicts Limited Lifespan for Good Programmers, Reveals Key Skill for Coders to Thrive

Billionaire founder and CEO of Citadel, Ken Griffin, has warned that the days of being a good programmer are numbered because of generative AI. Speaking to the firm’s summer interns, Griffin advised that identifying and solving domain problems will define programming career paths. He emphasised that programming will be a top target for generative AI, and that writing hundreds of lines of code will no longer differentiate coders. However, Griffin added that a software engineering background is still critical, and strongly encouraged the interns to keep learning, stating that the ability to learn translates into the ability to run and build businesses.
