Apple is set to reveal its new watchOS 10 OS update in June, which is said to deliver the biggest upgrade to the Apple Watch in years. As mentioned by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his newsletter and Twitter posts, watchOS 10 will be available to all current Apple Watch models, such as the Series 4 and up. This update is expected to be the most significant in terms of software, as future hardware changes are predicted to be minimal.
Last year saw the release of two new Apple Watch editions – the economical Apple Watch SE 2 and the more premium Apple Watch Ultra with advanced features such as a built-in dive computer and accurate GPS tracking. As improvements from prior releases have already been sizable, Gurman does not expect to see significant hardware changes for the upcoming year. Instead, focus will be on the updated operating system, watchOS 10, which is promised to bring a brand new user interface and a market disruption.
WWDC 2023 is set to begin on June 5th and we can hope Apple’s keynote speech will shed some light to watchOS 10. But until then, the specifics remain a mystery. The new interface may subtly change how we access our apps and other Apple Watch features, but it is also said to offer several new metrics for runners as well as fresh watch faces featuring lunar calendar designs.
Apart from being a multinational technology company and a digital content distribution platform, Apple is also known for its network of retail stores, online services and its popular product lines such as iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac.
Mark Gurman, who wrote about the rumors regarding watchOS 10 update, is a technology journalist at Bloomberg, with an exclusive focus on Apple. He is well-known for breaking several major Apple stories such as Apple’s augmented reality glasses, a Siri-based Amazon Echo competitor and even a car project in 2015.
