Devesh Sharma, a faculty member at a government degree college, expresses concerns about students’ excessive reliance on AI tools like ChatGPT. He highlights that many students use ChatGPT for college projects, notes, and assignments. Although these tools are popular among students, they may not always provide accurate information. Sharma suggests that students are drawn to these tools out of curiosity and as a means to avoid work. This overreliance on AI tools could hinder their natural learning abilities.

Jince Jose, the Head of IT & Computer Science Department at St. Joseph’s Convent Senior Secondary School, suggests that around 10-20% of students utilize AI ChatGPT, mostly due to a lack of awareness. However, Jose points out that the use of such tools negatively impacts students’ creative faculties. By relying on pre-programmed AI responses, students may limit their ability to think creatively and independently.
A Multifaceted Learning Aid
On the other hand, Ayush Srivastava, a computer application student, emphasizes the benefits of ChatGPT. Srivastava explains that he uses the tool for programming, email drafting, resume ideas, profiling, and even presentations. He believes that ChatGPT acts as an aid for understanding various technologies. By generating prompts, the AI tool helps students find the best solutions to their questions. It serves as an online assistant, delivering structured answers to a wide range of queries.
A Valuable Alternative to Google
Himani Shrotriya, a school student, shares her positive experience with ChatGPT. She prefers using ChatGPT over Google, as she believes it provides answers that cannot be easily found on search engines. Shrotriya claims that during examinations, she was able to find 90% of her answers through ChatGPT. Additionally, she praises the tool for its ability to provide a wealth of information on any given topic.
