The Writers Guild of America, made up of more than 13,000 professional screenwriters, and the AMPTP, representing the interests of major Hollywood studios and television networks, recently proposed regulating the use of artificial intelligence in scriptwriting. AI tools must be credited to the writers, while also maintaining Writer’s standards of compensation, residuals and copyright. Plagiarism is a byproduct of AI, so the proposal is designed to protect Writers from any potential copyright infringements.
