The study, conducted by e-learning platform Preply, analyzed the language use of 100 American executives as an indicator of intelligence.
Language use, including vocabulary proficiency, nuanced phrases, and complex sentence patterns, was considered a reflection of depth of thinking and comprehension. According to Preply, the executives’ intelligence and competency are often displayed through their linguistic skills.
In the analysis, Demis Hassabis emerged as the clear leader with an exceptional score of 87.33. His expertise as both an AI researcher and neuroscientist has enriched his public discourses with a unique blend of knowledge, according to the report.
Warren Buffett, the renowned investor leading Berkshire Hathaway, secured the second spot on the list, followed by Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, ranked within the top five with an overall score of 71.00. The report praised Bezos for transforming Amazon into a global e-commerce powerhouse from its humble origins as an online book retailer.
Elon Musk, the visionary entrepreneur behind companies like Tesla and SpaceX, secured the sixteenth position on the list with a score of 64.33. Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of Meta, came in at eighth place with a score of 69.67.
The study by Preply aimed to provide a balanced view of the smartest global executives based on their linguistic skills. By analyzing language use, the research attempted to shed light on the intelligence and competency of these prominent figures.
