Arc Introduces HireAI to Make Recruiting Software Developers Easier

Date:

Arc—a remote jobs platform focused exclusively on software developers—is launching HireAI to make finding the right candidates easier. Powered by OpenAI’s GPT-4, HireAI automates the process of scouring through Arc’s 250,000 developers and conducting resume screenings and bulk outreach.

To use HireAI, employers upload the job description and the AI will create a shortlist of carefully chosen candidates. With each match, the preferences and parameters become more refined to provide the most accurate results. The technology will also generate job descriptions after engaging in a dialogue with an AI recruiter.

Weiting Liu, the founder and CEO of Arc who also founded Codementor, a remote learning platform for software professionals, believes that noise-to-signal rate is especially high when it comes to recruiting international applicants. He noted, “Since Arc’s launch in 2019, we have seen many recruiters and hiring managers frustrated with the amount of time spent sifting through the pile of resumes and manually going through different candidates in order to find the most suitable applicant.”

Before HireAI, employers were expected to submit their job requirements and Arc’s machine learning would soon offer the best candidates. Or, Arc’s recruiters would curate and review the applicants on behalf of the company.

According to Liu, HireAI and other AI-driven tools are designed to reduce manual tasks such as writing job descriptions, screening candidates, and outreach. This gives hiring teams more time to review if an amateur is a good cultural fit as well as to build relation and have conversations about the career goals of each potential candidate.

What is more, Liu believes that AI-powered tools such as HireAI can play a big role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion since employers wouldn’t be able to see the age, ethnicity, or gender of candidates until they embrace the best match.

HireAI was recently soft-launched on Arc and new data indicates that companies are more likely to interview developers who have been put together with HireAI. This feature is completely optional for employers and some might choose to go the manual route or even combine both approaches in their recruitment process.

Arc is a global jobs platform for software developers, founded in 2019 by Weiting Liu. A Harvard graduate, Liu is the CEO and creator of Codementor—a platform dedicated to remote learning and mentorship for software engineers. With HireAI’s launch, Arc is looking to streamline recruitment by automating many of its tedious on-boarding tasks.
