Arab Youth Center Hosts Young Arab Media Leaders Program, Boosting Skills and Competitiveness
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Arab Youth Center is hosting the Young Arab Media Leaders Program, aiming to enhance the skills, capabilities, and competitiveness of young Arabs in the media industry. The program, now in its fifth edition, has attracted 51 participants from 18 Arab countries.
The program offers interactive workshops and practical lectures on a range of topics, including environmental journalism, climate change, and sustainability. It is organized by the Arab Youth Center in collaboration with media institutions and academies, such as the Dubai Press Club, Google, Al-Mashhad TV, Bloomberg TV, the American University in Dubai, the New Media Academy, Al-Bayan newspaper, Sky News, CNN, and the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
During the program, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, the Director-General of WAM, emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge, continuous learning, and embracing modern technological tools in the media field. He highlighted the growing challenge of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation and the need to use technology positively to serve the media and society.
Al Rayssi also stressed the necessity of well-qualified and specialized media professionals, particularly in areas such as the environment, technology, and science, who can effectively deliver information and raise awareness on various issues. He emphasized the significance of meaningful content that benefits society, reflects true values, and contributes to the development and progress of the Arab world.
Participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions and ask questions regarding the role of national media in showcasing the country’s achievements and message. Al-Rayssi assured them that the national media in the UAE is committed to its developmental role, thanks to the support of the country’s wise leadership.
The program also featured a session on the role of content in developing media tools, in which speakers emphasized the importance of media institutions keeping pace with the advancements of AI and elevating content quality and professionalism. Another session highlighted the significance of the Arabic language in the media, calling on young people to preserve and value their heritage and identity.
The Young Arab Media Leaders Program serves as a platform to nurture talented individuals and equip them with the necessary skills to excel in the media industry. By fostering knowledge, expertise, and competitiveness, it contributes to the growth and development of the Arab media landscape.
