Apple Unlikely to Have a ChatGPT Competitor in the Market Anytime Soon

Date:

Surprisingly, Apple is not dominating the headlines in the cutting-edge world of AI chatbot technology. Most tech brands have already raced ahead and are introducing new voice assistant models but the one giant that has been missing from this competition is the iPhone manufacturer.

Siri, Apple’s resident AI assistant, has done little to show the application of its AI capabilities, and it may be a while before the tech giant can come up with any counter to the competitors in the chatbot race. According to reports published by The Information, Apple has had a tough time in keeping up with the latest trends in AI and could take up to 2024 before they can bring any feasible challenge to their competitors.

Apple has traditionally been inclined to the services and hardware sectors, which may be the reason that they are yet to show any substantial developments in AI. Reports suggest that the company still utilizes human inputs to groom Siri, with employees listening to some level of conversation in order to refine the responses. This revelation blew up in Apple’s face as a breach of privacy and the company had to cease this practice after the expose in the Guardian.

The reports also point out that Apple is doing all it can to ensure it has its own alternative by 2024. Nevertheless, it would be highly unlikely that the company will launch a challenger to ChatGPT, Bard AI or any other AI chatbot available in the market in the near future.
