Apple is set to unveil new home screen features in the upcoming iOS 18 update, as reported by MacRumors. The new customization options will allow iPhone users to create black spaces, columns, and rows between their app icons, offering greater control over the arrangement of their home screen.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg first reported on this more customizable Home Screen feature for iOS 18. Despite existing options like Shortcuts and Widgets, Apple’s official personalization choices are expected to be more user-friendly.
The iOS 18 update is anticipated to bring significant changes to the Home Screen, making it the most substantial update in recent years. It is aimed to provide users with enhanced control over organizing their app icons more effectively.
Rumors suggest that the update will be showcased at the WWDC conference in June, alongside updates for other operating systems like iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, and the latest macOS version. Developer betas are likely to be released in June, with the public launch scheduled for fall, coinciding with the expected release of the new iPhone 16 lineup in September.
In addition to the new home screen customization features, iOS 18 is expected to introduce advanced generative AI capabilities for Siri and various apps, RCS support in the Messages app for improved messaging between iOS and Android devices, design enhancements, and more. This update is aimed at providing a more personalized and user-friendly experience for iPhone users, enhancing their overall mobile experience.
