Apple is reportedly planning to launch an AI-powered health coaching service, code-named Quartz, to help users exercise, improve eating habits, and sleep better. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, several teams at the company are involved in the project, inclusive of the company’s health, Siri and AI experts. The service is planned to roll out next year, although there is a possibility that it might be postponed or scrapped if found not suitable. Additionally, Apple is also reportedly looking into introducing technology to track emotions and releasing an iPad version of its iPhone Health app this year.
The technology is expected to help users log their moods, provide answers related to their daily routines and help analyse how their emotional behaviours change over time. The emotion tracking technology will reportedly leverage algorithms which evaluate a user’s emotional state by examining their text, speech and additional data. Moreover, Apple has also employed a number of features and software upgrades to safeguard listening health such as safe-listening features, sound recognition, headphone accommodations and the like. Medical personnel are being given Apple Watch devices through Apple’s Investigator Support Program to initiate research into the cardiovascular health sector. Various heart-related features have been included in the Apple Watch such as heart rate notifications, the ECG app, cardio fitness, irregular rhythm notifications and the capacity to track atrial fibrillation (AFib).
