Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) recently banned internal use of a large language model known as ChatGPT, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal that cited insider sources. The tech giant has also begun to develop its own AI-generated technology as a result of concerns over potential data leakage. Furthermore, employees have also reportedly been asked to abstain from using Microsoft’s Copilot, a software code-writing automation tool available in GitHub.
ChatGPT, which was developed in conjunction with Microsoft-backed OpenAI, is a chatbot that is capable of responding to queries, generating essays, as well as performing a variety of tasks that mimic human-like behavior. Even with its efficiency, the use of these models involves the transmission of data back to the developers, which leads to worries over the inadvertent disclosure of confidential information by the companies.
As a matter of fact, Samsung Electronics Co (OTC: SSNLF) has also decided to consider using generative artificial intelligence after reports of a possible confidential information leak.
In conclusion, this move by Apple shows that the company is taking the proper steps to ensure that their data remains safe and secure. As for Microsoft and Samsung, they have both taken a similar approach to ensure the security of their respective data.
