Today, Apple released an update for the experimental Safari Technology Preview, a browser first introduced to the public in March 2016. This update, Safari Technology Preview Release 168, is designed to fix various bugs and improve overall program performance in areas such as Web Inspector, CSS, Rendering, Web Animations, JavaScript, Lockdown Mode, Media, Popover, Web API, and Accessibility.
Compatible with macOS Ventura and macOS Monterey 12.3 or later, the new Safari Technology Preview version 16.4 is available via Software Update in System Preferences. Detailed release notes for this update, including what’s been improved, can be found on the Safari Technology Preview website. As with all of Apple’s software, Apple is actively looking for feedback from developers and users to further enhance the browser’s experience and usability.
Apple’s Safari Technology Preview provides a unique advantage and opportunity for developers and users alike, as the application does not require a developer account to download and experimentation with the product can be done register-free and side by side with existing installations of Safari. Because of this design, Apple hopes to gain insight and valuable feedback that could potentially shape the future of the product.
Overall, this update signals a great step forward towards furthering the development of the browser, and Apple hopes that users and developers alike will take full advantage of the various resources it provides in order to test and develop the perfect browser experience.
