Apple CEO Admits Using ChatGPT Weeks After Its Ban by Apple

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, has confirmed that he uses ChatGPT, the generative AI language model, despite Apple banning its employees from using it along with GitHub’s Copilot feature. In an interview with Good Morning America, Cook said that Apple was being patient with AI development and deployment, as the power of language models raises concerns about bias and misinformation. He also emphasised the need for regulation and ethical decision-making by companies. Cook did not disclose whether Apple is developing its own language model, such as GPT-4. However, he acknowledged that ChatGPT has unique applications and said that Apple is paying attention to its development. Despite Apple’s silence on AI, the company uses AI processors in Macs and iPhones to manage different functions, such as battery life and Face ID.
