Generative AI is making big waves this week, with updates from OpenAI, Google, Jasper, and Instacart, among others. Unfortunately, Apple seems to be lagging behind in the generative AI race. In this week’s episode of the Voicebot Podcast, Eric and Bret discuss the top generative AI stories and the winners and losers of the week.
Though there is a lack of generative AI news from Apple, there is much to be excited about in the rest of the tech world. OpenAI has released a new study on language models that uses a smaller model with less data but still achieves impressive results. Google’s language model BERT has also been updated, with a new version that can understand the context of words better than ever before.
Jasper, a voice assistant technology company, has partnered with top six accounting firm Mazars to provide financial firms with compliance support. Instacart has released a new feature, an AI shopping assistant, that helps users find the exact products they need.
Quora is also making use of generative AI to help answer the existential questions of life. The company has deployed a new language model that can provide more personalized and in-depth answers to users’ inquiries. Meanwhile, McKinsey claims that just 50% of its staff use generative AI, despite the technology’s potential benefits for the business world.
Eric and Bret also cover other stories related to AI policy, laws, and regulations, including a recent interview with Aleksandr Tiulkanov, who discusses the role of government in AI development. In addition, they talk to Robert Scoble, who shares his thoughts on Apple, Siri, ChatGPT, virtual companions, AR/VR, and his experiences in Silicon Valley.
Overall, it’s an exciting time to be in the world of generative AI, with new advances and partnerships being made every day. Stay tuned for next week’s Voicebot Podcast episode to stay up-to-date on the latest AI news.
