On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stressed the need for the development of an ecosystem for cybercrime management, modernization of police forces, increased use of Information Technology (IT) in the criminal justice system, land border management and coastal security issues for India during the ‘Chintan Shivir’ of senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi.
The minister was also of the opinion that artificial intelligence should be used to utilize the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) database in order to analyze crimes, thus making cities safer for vulnerable sections, women, and children.
Shah urged the fast-tracking of recruitment processes in order to anticipate the future vacancies and further suggested that the departmental Promotion Committees (DPC) should hold regular meetings which could assure employees timely promotions.
Notably, the Home Minister also prescribed the enhancement of healthcare facilities and improvement of the housing satisfaction ratio for the Central Armed Police Forces personnel as to their welfare measures.
Furthermore, Shah asked for regular trainings conducted by all wings of the MHA administration, fast-tracking of fencing and roads constructed in border areas, and for MHA officials to visit the fields for the better monitoring of development schemes.

The ‘Chintan Shivir’ was held with the intention of reviewing the work of the Ministry and to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, “Vision 2047”. The discussions in the session gave valuable insights of the way forward with Home Minister making sure that the goal of a safe and secure India should be achieved with the combined efforts and dedication of all the senior officials.
