AMD has announced its latest line of processors, the Ryzen Pro 7000 series, aimed at business owners. With up to eight cores and a base frequency of 4GHz, the top model Ryzen 9 Pro 7940HS has an integrated Radeon graphics card. The architecture of the processor has several notable upgrades such as higher IPC and new graphics architecture RDNA 3 from RDNA 2 and DDR5 memory. The highlight, however, is the Ryzen AI block which is optimized for AI-based workloads such as Windows Studio effects. The inclusion of a dedicated AI block allows AMD to offer a comprehensive solution from data centers to edge devices. The Ryzen Pro series also has faster processing power than Apple’s M2 Pro or MacBook Pro according to industry benchmarks. However, critics suggest AMD may need to up the ante when Apple unveils its M3 CPU next year. Expect AMD’s processors to be available on business laptops from major brands such as Lenovo, Dell, HP, Asus, Acer, MSI, Gigabyte and also for mobile workstation specialists.
