Alibaba is embedding its ChatGPT-like artificial intelligence in its service offerings, starting with its meeting assistant Tingwu and collaboration platform DingTalk. To improve the accuracy of these services, the company’s large language model (LLM) Tongyi Qianwen will be integrated into Tingwu. The new version of the meeting assistant, called Tongyi Tingwu, is currently available for public beta testing and automates tasks such as summarization of audio and video content. Alibaba plans to implement the same features to DingTalk in the coming months. Baidu has also recently announced its commitment to using AI, stating that it will rework all of its products with this technology. The race to integrate AI in China is in full swing, with companies like SenseTime and iFlyTek highlighting their AI prowess.
Alibaba Group Holding is a Hangzhou-based e-commerce giant that owns companies such as the South China Morning Post. Zhou Jingren is their chief technology officer.
DingTalk’s President, Ye Jun, announced that the collaboration platform will include AI capabilities that are similar to Tongyi Tingwu. With the refreshed rivalry between Alibaba and Baidu over AI integration, China’s domestic tech firms are focusing heavily on AI after the chatbot trend started following the 2020 launch of Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
