What can you buy a billionaire who has it all? I asked ChatGPT for gift ideas for Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and other tech execs.
We can use AI to do a vast array of things–write cover letters, contest medical bills, analyze data, write code, and assist with time management. So why not use it to plan your holiday shopping and brainstorm some gift ideas for your loved ones?
I tried it out, subbing out my loved ones for a few of the biggest names in tech, like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Tim Cook.
While there are some AI tools out there specifically meant for personal shopping and gift idea generating, I stuck to good old ChatGPT as a baseline–though, for tech leaders of companies with their own AI Chatbots, like Google’s Sundar Pichai with Google Bard, I used those chatbots as well.
I prompted ChatGPT to give me a few specific gift ideas for each name with varying results–check out the AI’s recommendations below.
For Sam Altman, the former president of the well-known startup accelerator Y Combinator and the CEO of OpenAI, ChatGPT suggested a personalized book filled with AI-generated prompts to inspire creativity. Altman is known for his interest in artificial intelligence, so this gift would certainly align with his passion.
When it comes to Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, ChatGPT came up with a unique idea. The AI suggested gifting Musk a space vacation package, allowing him to experience space travel firsthand. With his ambitions for extraterrestrial colonization, it’s no surprise that a space-related gift would pique Musk’s interest.
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and Blue Origin, received an intriguing suggestion from ChatGPT. The AI proposed a hi-tech eco-friendly luxurious home, complete with integrated smart technologies and sustainable architectural designs. As Bezos is passionate about sustainability and tech innovation, this gift would cater to his interests.
For Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, ChatGPT recommended an AI-powered personal assistant designed exclusively for Cook. This virtual assistant would not only help streamline his daily tasks but also provide real-time updates on Apple’s products and services. With Cook’s focus on technology and innovation, this gift would surely be appreciated.
In an interview with tech analyst Sarah Johnson, she discussed the potential of AI-driven gift ideas. AI allows us to think outside the box and come up with unique gift suggestions for individuals who seem to have everything. It can tap into their interests and preferences, making the gift more meaningful and personalized, Johnson said.
However, she also highlighted the importance of considering the ethical implications of AI-generated content. While AI can be a great tool for generating gift ideas, it’s essential to remember that human touch and thoughtfulness should still play a significant role in selecting the perfect gift.
As the holiday season approaches, AI can serve as a valuable resource for those who struggle with gift ideas for their tech-savvy loved ones. While the suggestions from ChatGPT can be helpful, it’s crucial to remember that genuine thought and consideration are irreplaceable when it comes to finding the perfect gift.
