AI Video Creation App Raises $25M from Top VCs for Captions Feature

Captions, an AI-powered video creation app for iOS, has raised $25 million in Series B funding led by Kleiner Perkins and including additional funding from Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and SV Angel. The app, which launched in 2021 and boasts over three million users, started out as a camera application catering to talking videos. Today the app has evolved into a holistic creative suite utilising state-of-the-art AI functionalities, including a feature that generates different language options of a video while maintaining the sound of the speaker’s voice and a real-time eye contact correction feature that creates the illusion that the speaker is making eye contact with the camera. Captions has garnered users from a diverse audience including realtors, fitness trainers, musicians, influencers, and sales professionals. Notable accounts utilising Captions include Disney-owned ESPN and Twitch’s founder Justin Kan. Captions has raised a total of $40 million to date.
