The city of Albuquerque is taking a step forward in its goal to improve security in parking garages. With the partnership of local artificial intelligence (AI) company, NoiseVu, they have installed an audio security system that immediately detects and sends real-time alerts for any criminal activity. This new AI technology is designed to detect the sound of gunshots, broken car windows, stolen converters, public violence, car crashes, and even car alarms and sends the necessary alerts directly to security and police.
NoiseVu is always on and mainly functions to provide real-time alerts through an audio security system. With the rise of crime rates in parking garages, the city has invested heavily in installing NoiseVu cameras in the Civic Parking Garage downtown, as a pilot testing, which has been the victim of significant vandalism. With NoiseVu, the middleman is eliminated, and the authorities can respond quickly and promptly, stealing the possibility of a situation from getting out of control.
Erik Strobert, the founder, and CEO of NoiseVu speak of the technology as one that responds quicker than any other security technology in the market, making it all the more valuable. He also expressed the need for technology like NoiseVu with the rising security concerns in the parking garage. The city has planned to install more cameras once the pilot testing is successful and the effectiveness of NoiseVu has been established.
Although NoiseVu has only been installed in one parking garage, the city believes the new AI technology will help mitigate the risk of criminal activities and create a safer environment for people to park their cars. New ways to deter crime are constantly being sought out, and the installation of this technology goes a long way in achieving that goal.
