Taking this technology to the skies, German startup OroraTech has launched mini satellites into low orbit to analyze satellite images with AI algorithms. These satellites provide thermal images, particularly useful during the night when traditional aerial drones are less effective. By combining these images with data on vegetation and humidity levels, the AI technology can identify potential flare-ups that could result in megafires. This valuable information allows firefighting agencies to allocate their resources strategically and focus on blazes that pose the most significant danger.
