Elon Musk has recently acquired Igor Babuschkin, an AI specialist, to help him create a chatbot to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, in March, the AI researcher was arrested in Palo Alto, California due to a domestic violence incident.
The local police investigation determined that a misdemeanor and minor injury had occurred. Babuschkin was released the same day after posting $10,000 bail.
The Santa Clara District Attorney’s office declined to file official charges against Babuschkin. The Information was the first to report the arrest.
Since his arrest, both Twitter and Musk have declined to comment on the matter. Before joining Twitter, Babuschkin worked at DeepMind, Google’s AI firm.
Not long after Babuschkin’s hiring, Musk formed a new AI startup called X.AI Corp. With investors and roughly 10,000 graphics processing units, Musk’s ambition to build a more reliable and trustworthy chatbot beyond ChatGPT is seemingly supported by his team.
Twitter is a technology company based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2006, their focus is to provide users with an integrated platform for communication and content sharing across the world. Twitter services are available in over 40 languages and in more than 200 countries, and their market capitalization is currently valued at over $45 billion.
Igor Babuschkin is a highly sought after AI researcher. He was previously at DeepMind, a part of Google, and then moved to Twitter as Senior Director of Engineering. Babuschkin is hoping to help Musk create a chatbot that is faster and more reliable, specifically within openAI.
