AI-Powered Tools Make Video Editing Easier in Premiere Pro

Date:

Asking any video editor will tell you, post-production can take forever to complete. To make it easier, Adobe has recently announced some new editing features for its Premiere Pro and After Effects software, with Premiere Pro taking the lead and receiving new AI-powered tools. Among those is the text-based editing feature, where Sensei AI can analyze and transcribe clips into text, so editors and producers can easily work with the content. To further assist with consistency in the project, Adobe has also developed Automatic Tone Mapping and Log Color Detection, which can be used to fit HDR footage from various sources into one project without manual tweaking.

To help make the creative process more efficient, Adobe has also included tools for collaboration. Sequence Locking, for instance, will allow users to lock part of a video while making it a view-only file to everyone else. Other helpful features include Presence Indicators that show who is working on which section, and Work While Offline, which lets users be productive even when they don’t have internet access and upload their changes later on.

Another major upgrade Premiere Pro is receiving is GPU acceleration which works with professional formats, like Sony Venice V2. Also, support for four different languages in Speech to Text, and Background Autosave have been added. Adobe also claims that this is their fastest version of Premiere Pro yet.

Meanwhile, After Effects is mostly getting updates that optimize its performance, like faster timeline layer selection and Selectable Track Mattes. The Properties Panel now displays context-sensitive options with the corresponding software selection, in order to make tools more easily accessible. Adobe has also incorporated ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) and OpenColorIO tools for better work with sharing assets.
