AI-Powered Robot Revolutionizes Paper Distribution at Egyptian University
Students at Kafr El-Sheikh University in Egypt have developed a groundbreaking robot that is transforming the distribution of examination papers across the campus. The team, consisting of 12 students from the university’s faculty of artificial intelligence, designed a robot infused with artificial intelligence and powered by the Robot Operating System (ROS). Ahmed Ragab Ibrahim El-Shennawy, one of the students involved in the project, explained, Our vision was to create a project that would directly benefit the university. By utilizing artificial intelligence and the ROS, the robot optimizes the distribution of papers and documents, making it a seamless and efficient process.
The robot operates on two principal models. Firstly, it utilizes a machine-learning model to analyze various factors, such as distance, street width, and traffic, enabling it to determine the best parking spots. This model relies on historical data to make informed decisions. Secondly, the robot incorporates a Computer Vision Model, which enables it to interpret road signs like turn indicators, stop signs, and pedestrian signals. This enhances the robot’s decision-making abilities as it navigates the university grounds.
Haneen Mohammed Kamal Mohammed, another member of the student team, explained the advantages of the robot’s multifaceted capabilities. One of the key benefits is the significant time and effort saved in transporting papers between buildings.
