This week was buzzing with news in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector as major companies such as Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), Adobe (NASDAQ:ADBE), OpenAI, Microsoft (MSFT), Google (GOOG), Expedia (EXPE), Bookin.com’s Kayak (BKNG), Shopify (SHOP) and Salesforce’s (CRM) Slack all made advances in the ever growing domain.
Nvidia was the center of attention, hosting their GTC conference, with the keynote address from Chief Executive Jensen Huang. Huang highlighted the current attention the generative AI, OpenAI’s ChatGPT in particular, is receiving. OpenAI was busy too, temporarily disabling the history feature of their service, and adding support for third-party plug-ins for companies listed above. Google had its own announcement as they made their AI chatbot Bard available for public use in the US and UK.
Adobe was in the news as well, making announcements at their Max event in Las Vegas. Adobe rolled out Firefly AI, a set of AI models which incorporate image generation and text effects. Super Micro Computer (SMCI) was in the news with their new servers that incorporate graphics processors from Nvidia (NVDA). Shares of the company hit an all-time high as they were recognized as a central component to the current AI boom. Lastly, Alibaba (BABA) saw their stocks rise even after one of their top AI executives left for an unknown startup.
