AI chatbots conquer ABA Techshow after 3 years of in-person conference absence

The ABA Techshow 2023 was the first fully in-person legal technology event in three years, and over 1,700 people attended. Attendees and vendors were particularly interested in learning more about ChatGPT, a chatbot created by OpenAI that provides human-like responses to user prompts. This technology is expected to transform the legal practice, and several legal tech companies have integrated ChatGPT-based tech into their products. Other topics discussed at the conference included new applications like Universal Migrator that simplify and automate data transfer and backups, best practices for using telecommunication tools for remote courtroom proceedings, and the ethics around nonlawyer ownership of law firms.
