A recent global study put computers to the test against accounting students. The result showed that the students performed better than AI in the form of ChatGPT by a margin of 20%. The study involved 25,000 trials and the AI often gave made up facts with a descriptive explanation to go with it.
Ruth Dimes, a co-author from the University of Auckland found that the findings need to be taken with a grain of salt. She states, “The study conducted in December and January used version 3.0 of ChatGPT and since then a few advancements have been made which could potentially narrow down the gap.”
AI advances and usage has been growing exponentially over the years. However, these results brings forth the outstanding capabilities of accounting students and their impressive performance and knowledge.
