Global professional services and consulting company Accenture has announced it will invest an enormous $3bn in artificial intelligence (AI) over the next three years, with the goal of building-up a team of AI professionals and offering AI-focused solutions for its customers. The company says it will double the size of its data and AI practice team, from 40,000 to 80,000 employees, via a combination of hiring, training and acquisitions. Accenture’s total workforce is around 738,000, thus following the expansion, 10% of its employees would be AI professionals. The Dublin-based firm also plans to set up data and AI readiness accelerators across 19 industries.
